SMS WQReporter

The SMS Water Quality Reporter system allows users whose phones do not support J2ME (i.e entry level phones) to submit water quality test results into the system via SMS.

  • After performing water quality tests, data collectors fill in the logbook provided, looking up the sample point identification number in the sample point table at the back of the logbook.
  • Using the logbook, users compose an SMS in the predefined format. Currently, the predefined formats are available for H2S tests and residual chlorine tests.
  • Users send the SMS, and receive an SMS response from the server to either confirm that the test result was saved successfully, or describes any errors encountered.
  • On the server side, RapidSMS is used to receive and parse incoming messages.
